“The Colour of South” Community Cultural Development (ccd) Project involved the collaborative work of participants, women from the Romanian community at German Club, within a series of painting workshops which culminate with an exhibition of their art works. The project encompassed two sessions of consultations that included an introduction to the Art form and ideas development. One workshop was dedicated to bushwalking and taking photographs from Deep Creek National Park. The next six sessions involved the creation of the paintings and finally it was the exhibition in November 2006 at Axis Gallery, The Parks Art & Function Complex. The realization of the project included documentation. The theme was to paint the Australian landscape from different images put together in a shape of a mosaic. Some of the works were exhibited in a couple and others were exhibited separate. The style of work was realistic, however the five artists involved had their own and original style. There were also participants at their first painting experience; however they brought a valuable contribution to the project. It was something new, positive received by the group involved and it offered the chance to have a say not only through people’s voices, but also through the Australian landscape in an original view.
